Program Instructions
The program is designed to facilitate memorising the position of notes on the guitar fretboard. Its functionality includes generating random notes and strings, which are customised through the settings, and requires the user to play them on the guitar. By incorporating this into the daily practice routine and gradually reducing the intervals between newly generated notes, the program can effectively reinforce your knowledge of the fretboard. Other options include presenting an image of the fretboard incorporating the notes overlaid during practice, alongside showing the correct fret to use for the given string/note combination.
Use the specified strings to play the randomly selected notes on the guitar using no open strings.
From the program settings:
- Select which string or combination of strings you want to practice the notes on.
- Select the interval, in seconds, between the generation of new notes.
- Select if you want to include accidentals (sharps & flats) or just natural notes.
- Click the Start button to begin.
Additionally in the settings you can display a fretboard diagram where the notes are position on screen as the program runs which allows you to check your selection if you are unsure. The target note can also be played as a reference.

Strings To Include In Practice:
(used if you haven’t learnt the notes on all of the strings, or you want to practice with a particular string or set of strings)
Interval Between String/Note Changes (seconds):
Additional Options:
This option may not work on some browsers or if played on mobile devices due to default settings.
This parameter represents a percentage of the interval duration. For instance, if the interval is set to 5 seconds and the delay
percentage is set to 50% (the default), the program will wait for 2.5 seconds before revealing the target note on the fretboard.
